Zit Bustin With Mario Badescu

Someone needs to tell my nose that it's Easter and not Christmas. The zit that has cropped up on the tip of my nose has me looking like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Frustratingly, I have never had much success with acne treating skincare. My skin is dry. Dry skin is the enemy of acne treating skincare. It is also easily irritated so most acne treating washes and the like I find too harsh and stripping for my skin.  But I heard some great reviews on the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. And, more importantly, that you only need to apply it directly to the zit rather than the whole face. So I thought I would Try It Out. 

This little bottle contains a mixture of potent salicylic acid which works as an ant-inflammatory, anti-microbial camphor (which is massively STINKY - momentarily). And alcohol, which dries the gunk after the salicylic and camphor business has gone to town.

I have used acne treatments before that contain these ingredients but this one must be a little more concentrated because I could feel the sting. And to be graphic, specifically painful if the zit has already popped. Ouch. 

Thankfully, the Calamine lotion is soothing and completely offsets this feeling (in seconds). Phew. Because the lotion leaves a pink dot on the skin its best used before bedtime.

The following morning the offending zit was almost dry, and the next day it was gone. Nope, I am not going to show a picture.

Overall - whilst I don't think it works a complete miracle (I am too cynical for that), I do think it speeds up the zit drying process by, ummm, around 1000 times. And the real winner for me, is that the calamine really takes away that itchy feeling that you get with a zit.

Would definitely recommend this as a zit banish go-to staple in the bathroom cupboard.
